Blogs from the Trench!

Closing Down week

Finally - as the dig ends - we get good weather! The end week on site goes exceptionally well; a mix of images to sustain us through the winter months!

Post ex update - Contexts

The entire context record for 2009 has now been entered into the site database.

It's been fun.....

And so, after 78 weeks of digging, it's time to dust down the black polythene, mothball the trowel and recover real life. Today Hella was on site to give her final 'Treasure Talks' of the season.

Saturday August 8th

The last weekend of the season - always a challenge!

Bloggin' Again!

It is indicative of how busy I have been on site this year....no blogs for the past 2 weeks...I will attempt to make up for this over the next week as the dig draws to a close.

End of Week 5 - digital context recording

Overall, 52% of the contexts on site have been recorded with digital pens this week. The first time that they have overtaken traditional recording!

Cherry Picker Day Season 13!

I was on site early - with fresh croissants and coffee for the Staff meeting.

The Day before the Cherry Picker

A day of sunshine and showers - a mixed blessing with final site photographs due to happen the next day. On one hand a blessing as Silchester only really looks its best when thoroughly doused.

A day without Jon

In all the seasons that Jon Tierney, my Site Manager, has worked with me, we have only ever had 1 day apart!

Week 6

I had high hopes for the weather in Week 6...but once again we were to be damply disappointed!
