09/02/2010 Silchester related paper in the Computing Applications in Archaeology proceedings

The Computing Applications in Archaeology Conference 2009 contained a selection of papers on the VERA project at Silchester. The paper by Amanda Clarke and Emma O'Riordan can be downloaded for free (yes free!) at http://www.caa2009.org/articles/Clarke_Contribution203_a.pdf.

The Silchester related VERA project had its final workshop yesterday in the University of Reading. The day went really well and we have a lot to think about for future seasons!

New! Interactive Excavation Timeline available. It is a prototype so let us know what you think. We will shortly be releasing a Roman timeline to accompany the excavation one.

The thirteenth season of excavation is quickly approaching. Look out for more enriched content from the website with blogs and diaries from the Site Director, Finds and Environmental amongst others. Video will also feature in the coming weeks so you won't miss out on the action if you can't manage to visit. Remember though, the site is open from 9 - 5 every day except Fridays so why not visit us?

07/04/2009 The 2009 Field School is now full.

The 2009 Field School is now fully booked and applications are closed. Applications for the 2010 Field School will be open from January 2010. Thank you for your interest and do come and visit us on site this summer!

Places on the first four weeks of the field school are now full. Places are however still available for Weeks 5 and 6.

The Guide to Silchester section of the website has now been moved over to Drupal. This section was written a few years ago to accompany the published booklet from Reading Museum.

You can now view a selection of images from 2001 to 2008! Before 2001, there was no digital camera on site, so anyone awaiting pictures from then get your slide scanners ready :p
